What is a Raisin Rock? Seems like an odd name for a blog doesn’t it? Raisin Rocks are the main reason why I grew up to love food. A great woman used to bake Raisin Rocks when I was young, my Granny. Now at age 28 the memory of her baking them for friends and family is imprinted in my mind. Unfortunately, Granny is no longer with us to make Raisin Rocks. When I am in the kitchen I often remember walking into Granny’s house on a cold day and her saying, “What do you want to eat?” So Raisin Rocks is the name of this blog to honour my Granny, an amazing woman who taught me to love everything food! And to share my passion with the people around me.
Two years ago my husband and I moved to a small town about 30 minutes outside of Ottawa, Ontario. We live in a century in the country, its on a large 1+ acre lot. We have two cats, Matches and Link (aka Bear) and a dog Arlo. That's Arlo and me in the photo. I have a HUGE kitchen with a lot of counter and cupboard space, perfect for a foodie like myself. The kitchen is a little out of date but I have big plans to create my dream kitchen in the near future, I can’t wait! I cook a lot in my kitchen but I LOVE to bake and share with friends and family. I am by no means a professional but I have put in a lot of hours researching and practicing recipes. I am writing this blog for two reasons, 1) to create a journal of what I cook/bake, 2) to share what I make with anyone that wants to listen. I guess I feel like what I have learnt is worth sharing.
Please feel free to comment on my posts, I’m a bit of a dork and I get pretty excited when someone leaves a comment. Or you can contact me at raisinrock@gmail.com
